In one week, 2,500 or gamers – board game geeks if you will – convene in Texas to PLAY some games! BGG.con has a familiar ‘family’ feel, with open and relaxed gaming.
As the con grows there are more exhibitors with hot new games for demo or sale. We reached out to vendor participants for a quick summary of their titles, and why you should visit the Exhibit halls and Demo Land.
BGG.con, Nov 19-23
FYI, This list does not cover the scope of designer or special events; there’s just a ton of stuff to do at the con. For attendees, this should help guide you to your favorite publishers. If you’re not attending – still a source of awesome games in your near future!
All linked games point to BGG – play ’em and give them some thumb and rating love!

Mage Wars is a 2 player dueling card game (expandable to 4 with accessories and expansions) that is non-collectible. Each player controls a powerful Mage who enters the arena to do battle. Using a unique mechanic of a spellbook, rather than a deck, Mage Wars provides total access to a player’s planned strategies, reducing the “luck factor” and focusing on the tactics and gameplay.
In addition, we will have demos of Sheriff of Nottingham, one of the most anticipated games this year, and the first in our exclusive Dice Tower Essentials line. The Sheriff of Nottingham is a bluffing and social game where each player takes turns being the Sheriff while other players attempt to bring their goods into the city. However, the Sheriff is on the lookout for high value contraband, that if snuck in, could be worth a fortune, or, could cost merchants a pretty penny. Of course, the Sheriff’s eye can be turned, for the right price…
Mage Wars, along with the game’s expansions, will be available for sale in our booth. We will also have a small supply of Sheriff of Nottingham to sell AND:
A Sheriff of Nottingham Contest!

When you land on a planet, you can take or leave cards in the stash there. You can also protect cards with Vaults, Bases, and Traps. Played cards go back to your hand, so much of the strategy involves adapting and out-thinking your opponents and getting card combos to counter them. The Chaos Clock counts down clockwise and each player’s turn brings the Chaos Clock one step closer to zero.

Join discussionI would love to have one of these for a con I was actually going to go to! I won’t be at BGGcon. Maybe make one for Strategicon? Kublacon?
There’s going to be tons of fun, and these exhibitors are selling some great games!
Peter – thanks for putting together in one place these links to very helpful guides. Looking forward to getting some gaming in with you!
The Hot Games/Demo Land image points to the wrong image on BGG. It needs to point to image 2296175.
Great catch! Got it. Thank you
